They do have lunch hours Tuesday through Friday from 12pm to 2pm.
How much does what cost?
Yes I believe there is take out, I would recommend it if you are not comfortable with close quarters. Food is out of this world!
5:30-10:00PM Friday and Saturday, 5:30-8:30PM Sunday.
Quiet spot with quality food. Great staff.
Great sushi place for quick bite.
The staff here were excellent. We greatly enjoyed the bento boxes and the ice cream that came with! Authentic sushi and gyoza really made the meal fantastic. We will be back!!
The sushi is fresh and delicious, and the service was friendly. Highly recommend.
This place sure knows how to serve their customers. Always with a friendly approach. The food is conveniently priced, regularly flavorful and neat.
I absolutely love this place. Great sushi, food is really good. For years it’s been my favorite destination for my sushi cravings 😉
Absolutely awesome!! A hidden gem! Taka is very creative, the fish is always fresh and the sake pairings are delightful!
The most authentic and DELICIOUS Japanese cuisine!! The most amazing raw scallops, sushi and sashimi! And the cooked kitchen food is incredible and consistently the BEST!!!!
Amazing!! I love Sushi and enjoy it often throughout my travels, both internationally and the US. Taka is the best! The cuisine is traditional Japanese Sushi and so is his selection of fantastic imported Saki. So there will not be many Asian Fusion "Confusion" dishes with lots of mayo, if that is what you are looking for, However, you will find the freshest fish and incredible dishes prepared by a master Sushi Chef. The restaurant is small and easy to miss on Carman Ave; however, I believe there is no better Sushi restaurant on LI.
Just the Best! Sushi with friends. Staff is like family.
It used to be a great place before last night.Food was average, not a big deal, but we definitely didn’t expect live cockroach join our diner at the bar. We’ve tried to make a joke on it, but the personnel were acting as nothing is happening, even when we tried to catch it ourselves.Common, it’s not acceptable even for such a loyal customer as I. I can’t pay $50/person for a diner and see cockroaches.
One of the top ten sushi restaurants on Long Island.
The best, period!
The best sushi ever.
Really really good sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious. The scallops here are amazing. Soft and juicy. Salmon on the other hand wasn't so great. This place is hidden in a shopping Plaza so you have to carefully lookout for it. Everything here is pretty authentic.
Excellent and yummy food, I like the character this place has, and the employees were very kind. I will definitely visit here again.
Good quality fish, a very small place, a little pricey.
I've been going for years to this restaurant with my parents and now husband. Last night we were dismissed to leave after asking for a table, the hostess told us there was a 2 hour wait-- the place was practically empty. I don't know why we were ushered out of the restaurant but it was very upsetting consider how much we love this place. They had a great ginger dressing on their salad, the chicken teriyaki is amazing and the red bean ice cream is served in pitch pots which as a ceramic artist I appreciate! But to dismiss us out of the restaurant when it's empty was insanely rude. I don't know if we will be going back.
Taka Sushi is hands down the best sushi on Long Island, maybe anywhere. The place has a simple, cozy seating arrangement with a full view of the sushi bar. The staff is friendly and there is a huge selection of appetizers, entrees, and of course sushi. We went last night and tried five of the more "special" rolls and we were not disappointed. In particular the Dragon Roll #1 with its delicious avocado was a show stopper. They also have a fair selection of japense beer wine and sake. Truly a place not to miss, I'm already looking forward to going back.
Sushi is amazing. Sashimi is fresh and I reccommend you come Tuesday because Monday is when they get the fresh fish
good... very good
Very good one of the better places on the island
Charming little place. Sashimi is fresh. Sake Kama is great. Bento Box is a lot of food.
Best sushi on Long Island. Beats any other place. Creative and flavorful dishes and great-tasting sushi.
The best sushi restaurant with fancy sake !
Without a doubt the best sushi on LI & certainly on par with the best in the Big Apple‼️
Cosy atmosphere, and some of the best Japanese food I've had! Highly recommend it!
The food is consistently well prepared and delightful, workers hands out awesome customer service. I like the cleanliness and mood. Keep up the good work.
Quick service and delicious food. One of the best Japanese dishes I've ever had.
very good food and amazing atmosphere!
Best sushi place I've been to. Don't let the plain front or the location detract you from trying this place. Recommendation...go with the chef's choice. You won't regret it. Sushi was fresh, and the variety was interesting.
Good local sushi.
Small neighborhood sushi restaurant in a strip mall. Very warm & friendly. High quality authentic food. Never disappointing.
Food 5, Attitude 1.....The best analogy is that Nazi Soup guy from Seinfeld. Food is excellent but the attitude is abhorrent. I've been to several sushi restaurants, including Nobu in NYC and this place is better. The only time I see the owner semi-smile is Thursday when several local Japanese patrons go to eat. For even better food, look out for what the Japanese guys order as many of the dishes are not on the menu.
I'm not sure this is fare, because I've been friends with the owner over 25 years. Food is really an experience in Japanese cuisine.
Truly a special place. Sit at the sushi bar and tell taka to feed you. Do the omakase and bask in the glory.
Hole in the wall gem.Everytime the food has been great. The fish is fresh and the menu is huge.
Not your typical Americanized sushi. Expect to see fish and preparations you won't see anywhere else as well as cooked meals that demonstrate a larger degree of care than is typical in a sushi specialized establishment. You need to be open to new and different tastes if you plan on making the most of Taka Sushi. If your idea of a good night out for sushi is getting the same 2 or 3 cut rolls you always get, then you won't be able to fully appreciate this.
I was lucky enough to grow up in a town with 3 Japanese markets and one of LI's first Japanese restaurants, in the early- to mid-nineties. I used to sneak sushi into the house after school. (Only because "it would ruin my appetite for dinner", not because my parents had anything against sushi.) Over the past ~25 years I've gone out of my way to eat sushi everywhere from supermarkets to some of the top-rated places in the city.I only bring all of that up to put context to my assertion that Taka is among the best. The sushi is excellent, and even though I rarely go for the hot food, their donburi is also fantastic. Oh, and you know the terrible miso soup that comes from packets? Taka serves the exact opposite of that. It's dark, rich and homemade, and it's pretty much worth going just for that. Some of the other comments said that the people at Taka are rude. I haven't seen evidence of that. They're very nice, I've found.
Very fresh fish. A gem.
Excellent and yummy food, I like the character this place has, and the employees were very kind. I will definitely visit here again.
This is our favorite sushi place on Long Island. We mainly eat nigiri and the selection of fresh fish is amazing. They really know what they are doing and make sure to hit the things that you enjoy while turning you on to new things you may not have tried before.
Definitely should try the rice bowl in the place.
Very good first time here - enjoyed everything, both cooked & raw.
Amazing service! Somehow even more amazing sushi. This place is a rare diamond in the rough. TIP* ( get there at 530pm when they first open for dinner service to beat the rush!)
Amazing sushi. Amazing service. High quality fish. A hidden gem.
This place is so cool, I like it a lot. Will go again soon.
This serves great sushi. I have been eating lunch here (usually 4 times per year) for over 5 years. I have never had a bad meal. Service is good. The sushi is excellent. It is a little pricey compared to the half price joints, but that's the price you pay for quality.
Small but great food and service I was surprised by the potato salad...
This spot is worth a try. They serve large portions for reasonable prices. Always clean and with excellent character. Will come visit again.
